Father Christmas is back!

Visit Santa in his Grotto from 1st December to Christmas Eve.

Father Christmas will be accepting visitors from 11am to 5pm every day, except Christmas Eve when he needs to dash of at 4pm to take care of some urgent deliveries.

Every child who visits him will receive a special present. Santa will also pose for photos that can be purchased on-site and applied to keyrings, magnets, Christmas cards, baubles, snow globes and photo ornaments for an extra cost- making a great Christmas gift for friends and family.

A visit with Santa and his Elves cost £4.50, in addition to a £1.50 online booking fee.

Deck The Hall: A Christmas Singalong

Tis the Season of good Drill!

We cordially invite you to join us for a family Christmas singalong in our lovely cafe bar. 

We'll be gathering around the gorgeous grand piano with Dave Mallett and singing your favourite Christmas tunes, croons & carols whilst nibbling on mince pies & sipping on aromatic mulled wine or a smooth Baileys hot chocolate along with a selection of warm festive foods served from our cafe bar team.

As we festively frolick into the evening there'll be performances from local accoustic artists and some special guest appearances!
Christmas jumpers not necessary but recommended!

This family friendly event is a fundraiser for our Big Give Christmas Campaign and whilst it's free to attend, donations are very much welcome!

The Churchfitters

The Churchfitters is a folk group like no other. A double bass made out of scrap metal. Heart-wrenching vocals accompanied by a musical saw. Foot-stomping fiddle mixed with infectious funk-rock rhythms. Their “Christmas Cracker” is a mouthwatering selection of traditional and original festive season songs which will see Christmas in with a bang, a paper hat-full of surprises, novelties – and some terrible jokes too!

Bird Watching For All

Join local RSPB members for a guided walk around Hartsholme Country Park and Swanholme Lakes Local Nature Reserve to discover the many species of birds which reside here throughout the year. The walk will last around 2 hours, taking a route along woodland paths, which in places are undulating and at times wet and muddy. This event is free of charge and all children must be accompanied by an adult. There are toilets and refreshments at the Park. Suitable for all age groups. Family Conservation Fun - Tree Dressing

A seasonal highlight in Sherwood’s Christmas calendar. Join in the ancient custom of Tree Dressing, and where better to celebrate the wonder of trees than in one of England’s most famous forests. Come along and drop in on any of the sessions to make a decoration to hang on our chosen tree in the Visitor Centre. Whilst the tree is being dressed there will be winter tales and music from Pilgrims and Posies. The Visitor Centre lights switch on will take place at 4.15pm, once the tree has been dressed with all the decorations. Free sessions.

Following last year’s record breaking Beauty & The Beast, which played to over 14,000 people, Jack & The Beanstalk is set to be our most incredible festive spectacular yet – and it’s also our 10th anniversary panto too, so come along and join in the celebrations! 

Back by popular demand is James Campbell as the outrageous Dame Dotty Trott, mother of our hero Jack and his brother Silly Simon. They haven't a bean to their name and their loveable cow Daisy has gone dry. Worse still, the village is at the mercy of the giant Blunderbore - and his wicked henchman Fleabottom has captured the beautiful Princess Zena…but this is one princess who can take care of herself! Come along and follow Jack up the beanstalk to find out who saves the day! 

With everyone’s favourite characters, stunning costumes, spectacular sets and effects, hilarious song and dance routines, plus more jokes than a bag full of magic beans, this is one madcap adventure your family won’t want to miss!

*Please note: the signed performance will take place on the 9 Dec 2pm and the performance at 2pm on 28 Dec will be the relaxed performance. 
A relaxed performance is specifically designed to welcome people who will benefit from a more relaxed performance environment, including very young children, people with an Autism Spectrum Condition, sensory and communication disorders, or a learning disability. The auditorium lights will be left on so it's not quite so dark, you're free to get up and walk around and the sound will not be quite so loud. Other than that it's exactly the same as a regular performance.

Cinderella at Blackfriars Theatre

We are delighted to announce that this years’ Pantomime at the Blackfriars will be the best loved of all, yes Cinderella is coming to Boston.  The story of a poor girl who loves with her impoverished father Baron Hardup and her wicked stepsisters Ravishing Rita and Wicked Wanda.  Prince Charming after a chance meeting with Cinderella falls in love.  A ball is held to which all the eligible girls in the Kingdom are invited including Cinderella and her ugly sisters, jealous of Cinderella the sisters steal her ticket and destroy it before her very eyes.  Loveable Buttons, who secretly loves Cinderella himself tries to cheer up our heroine all to no avail. 

At this stage Cinderella is left crying in the kitchen when her Fairy Godmother arrives and magically spirits Cinderella to the ball in a crystal carriage.   At the ball, she meets the Prince but has to flee the ball when the clock strikes 12 midnight, leaving behind her silver slipper.  The Prince begins a search to find the foot that fits the slipper.  Why not join us to find out how he finds Cinderella despite the antics of Ravishing Rita and Wicked Wanda.

Christmas Fun at Hall Farm Park

Father Christmas will be visiting the park on 9th, 10th,16th,17th,22nd and 23rd December between 1 – 2 pm.

He will also be making a special appearance at our Christmas out of hours party on Thursday 21st December. Join us for party games, festive food, music, indoor play and of course meet Father Christmas and receive a present for just £14.95 per child (with 1 adult admission free of charge.) We will also be holding our annual Nativity on Thursday 14th December at 7 pm.  This wonderful evening brings the Christmas story alive with real people and animals. Lincoln Lantern Parade

Thursday 14th December, 5pm – 8pm, Castle Hill to City Square.

Join in the festive parade carrying paper lanterns through the streets of Lincoln, ending with a light show on City Square.

This Christmas, join as hundreds of families parade down from Castle Hill to City Square carrying paper lanters.

The evening will begin at 5pm at Castle Hill with Carols and a Nativity Play, performed by local choirs and community groups.

Warm up with a hot chocolate and roasted chestnuts and get your paper lanterns from the stalls on Castle Hill before the start of the parade – or download a FREE paper lantern template online to create your own personalised lantern for the parade.

Then following the marching band down Steep Hill, through Lincoln High Street to City Square where the evening will conclude with a spectacular light show to round off Lincoln 2017.

For one night only, Lincoln’s Steep Hill and Bailgate businesses will be opening their door for late night shopping until 7pm. Once upon a time, in the lands far to the north of here, where the snow still falls deep in winter, a little girl and a little boy were lost at sea. Anja is adventurous but her best friend Karl is not. One day, whilst playing Polar Explorers the two friends find themselves cast adrift on an epic journey. Special family friendly showing on Monday 18 December at 1.30pm. This will be specially adapted to be sensitive to and accepting of audience members who may benefit from a more relaxed environment, including (but not limited to) those with autistic spectrum conditions, anyone with sensory and communication disorders or learning disabled people. Within this relaxed show we aim to create an informal atmosphere to allow people who may need to move around, make noise or just take a break. EARLY MORNING EXPLORERS - CHRISTMAS FUN

Join us for our Early Morning Explorers Sessions, an exclusive hour before opening where young children with autism and their families can enjoy the Castle in a specially tailored environment.  

The team at Lincoln Castle have undergone Autism Awareness training and worked alongside Lincoln's Parent Support Group PAACT who is affiliated to the Lincolnshire Autistic Society.

The Victorian Prison and Magna Carta experience will be adapted to create a more suitable environment for visitors with autism. Our Visit England Gold Accolade winning Front of House team will also be at hand to assist you throughout your visit.

If you require a moment away or a safe space, our education spaces will be available equipped with sensory toys.

The Langton's Café team will be serving food and drink from 9am.

Should you require any more information, please read our accessibility statement.  A brand new Easy Read Guide, which is specifically designed for young children and adults with Autism to take on their way around the Castle, can be downloaded and you can find out how to reserve your own temporary ear defenders whilst visiting us.

Please note that these changes to the Castle and its attractions will take place between 9.00am and 10.00am. From 10am the Castle's audio and visual interpretation will restart. You are more than welcome to stay beyond 10am.

Experience the magic of Christmas at Lincoln Castle by joining Father Christmas in the Victorian setting of the Bath House at the Castle.  Sit back and listen to stories of Christmases from the past and enjoy finding out more about Father Christmas himself.  Every child will receive a Victorian style gift and have the opportunity to share their Christmas wishes. Places are limited so please book your place in advance to avoid disappointment. Each adult ticket includes a free hot drink from Langton's café here at Lincoln Castle. Audiences last between 30 and 40 minutes.

Santa Fun Run & Walk 2017

Thousands of Santas run and walk through Lincoln's Cathedral Quarter for the biggest festive fundraiser in Lincoln.

Santas of all ages run or walk around Lincoln’s most iconic landmarks, starting and finishing on Castle Hill. This sell out event is all about raising money for some very deserving charities that make a real impact to people’s lives in Lincolnshire.

Over 2,500 runners dressed in their Santa suits will run or walk the 3.5km 2 lap course around the historic Bailgate course to claim their bespoke medals.

Tea with Father Christmas

Get into the Christmas spirit with this new family friendly special event. Children and families are invited to Lincoln Castle for a special after-dark tea time treat.  A visit to the Victorian Prison for a storytelling performance of "A Christmas Carol". Our costumed characters Sir Henry Greatham and Lady Lydia along with a host of puppets bring to life Dicken's famous tale with plenty of laughter along the way.  After the 30 minute performance all are invited to the Castle café for tea when our special guest, Father Christmas, will take time from his busy schedule to meet all of you!  

Every child and accompanying adult will receive a Christmas themed picnic box with sandwiches and festive treats along with hot and cold drinks. Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Santa Woodland Adventure

Santa Woodland Adventure, Build a bear workshops and themed Christmas Adult and child afternoon teas, it's not to be missed!

Visit the Pink Pig Farm every weekend throughout December, then 21st, 22nd, 23rd December for our Santa Woodland adventure.

Head to our enchanted woodland, ring the magic bell, wait for our elf to come greet you, head through the enchanted entrance and meet Mrs Christmas in our Magical Yurt with a real log burning fire! Write letters to Santa and make Reindeer food for Christmas Eve. Then make you way along to woodland walk with our elf, spotting the naughty elves as you go! Finally, visiting Santa as a group in his Grotto, receive the magic key for our woodland toy shop and pick a real quality present to take home.
