Autumn is in the air and there’s lots on offer at North Kesteven District Council’s exciting visitor attractions. These venues are free to visit all year round and offers something for all ages which makes a great day out (or two) for all the family!
Not only does Cranwell Aviation Heritage Museum tell the fascinating story of historic RAF Cranwell, it also has interactive exhibits including a flight simulator which challenges you to land a Jet Provost on the runway before your fuel runs out! Due to popular demand, their current exhibition Gallantry in the Air has been extending until the end of March 2019! Visitors will have the chance to discover some of the heroic figures who were decorated for their bravery during World War II. Many of the airmen featured in this exhibition gained the highest award for their valour, with some of them paying the ultimate price.
Cogglesford Watermill is one of the few working watermills in the country and has regular milling days on the second Sunday of the month. Here you can find out about the history of the mill and have a go at grinding flour from grain using our hand turned quern stones. A short stroll along the River Slea brings you to Navigation House, once the company office for the Sleaford Navigation Company. The River Slea was once a bustling, busy place, carrying laden barges into the heart of Sleaford. At Navigation House, the loads were weighed so that charges could be made before being carried off to their various destinations.
