The Camels are coming!
More four-footed visitors will be heading to Lincoln this Christmas, bringing an extra dimension to the city’s festive celebrations!
Reindeer from the Cairngorms were already booked to arrive on Thursday, November 29 for their display and parade. Now camels, creatures also closely linked to the Christmas story, are coming in December.
Lincoln BIG revealed that three camels will be in Lincoln on December 13, just in time to add an extra twist to the organisation’s traditional Lantern Parade and Carol Service.
Their timing promises to be spot-on. Not only will they lead the schoolchildren on the Lantern Parade, as it processes from City Square at 5pm and makes its way up to Castle Hill, the camels are sure to stop and take a peek through Ruddock’s windows in the upper High Street to check out the colourful festive Moroccan Market.
Lincoln BIG Events & Promotions Manager Michael Armstrong said: “On Thursday, November 15, we will throw open the doors on our Moroccan Market so it will be in full swing by the time the camels arrive.
“It will be great to see them outside Ruddock’s where people will be able to browse and buy authentic ceramics, wood, metal and leather products from that country.
“People will be able to see how some items are made and buy highly individual Christmas gifts from the Souk, which will be staying open until December 31.”
