Spice up your weekend at Lincoln Sausage Festival

Spice up your weekend at Lincoln Sausage Festival

Melton Mowbray has its pork pies and Cornwall has its pasties, but in Lincolnshire we have something bigger and better.

So why not come along to Lincoln Castle this weekend to join in the festivities around the county’s most famous export – the Lincolnshire sausage of course.

The world famous snack will be celebrated once again at its very own event in and around the castle grounds on Saturday 13 October.

The 16th annual Lincoln Sausage Festival will celebrate all that’s great about the region’s best loved bangers, withthousands of the meaty treats expected to be sizzled up for visitors on the day.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia, in conjunction with foodie forum Select Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire County Council and the Lincoln Business Improvement Group, the quirky festival is a great fun filled day out for the entire family.

In addition to sampling a selection of sausages, visitors can also browse a variety of other locally sourced food stalls, check out live musical entertainment from The Cosmic Sausages and enjoy children’s entertainment with ‘live wire’ clown act Juggling Jim.

There will also be cooking demonstrations from stalwart local celebrity chef Rachel Green and other Select Lincolnshire members.

Redhill Farm, will once again be sponsoring the Children’s Marquee this year, which will feature circus skills and other activities.

And although possible punters were left disappointed at the recent news of Mr Sausage’s impending retirement, organisers have promised to try and find a replacement mascot on the day. Phones at the ready for the selfie of the year.

The festival runs from 10am to 5pm with admission into the castle grounds just one pound per adult, accompanying children enter free.

You can follow all the build up to the festival by liking the Facebook page ‘Lincoln Sausage Festival’, or follow all the fun on Twitter @lincsausagefest
