Get your skates on for Junior Roller Derby taster day!
10-17 year olds invited to give Roller Derby a go in Lincoln.
On Saturday October 6th, Lincolnshire Bombinos Junior Roller Derby team is throwing open its doors to 10-17 year olds who are interested in trying the UK’s fastest-growing sport.
The Bombinos team was set up around 7 years ago when the adult team, the Bombers, found that children were becoming interested in learning to play roller derby. The team currently sees 25 boys and girls aged 10-17 regularly training on a Saturday morning at Yarborough leisure centre in Lincoln, coached by skaters and referees from adult teams.
Coach Beverley Gormley said “Junior roller derby is getting very popular in the UK, and two of our longest-standing skaters were recently selected to skate for Team GB Juniors in the Junior World Cup in Philadelphia! Full contact Roller Derby is fantastic fun, gets you fit, and brings you some great friends. Lots of our skaters didn’t know anyone else in the team when they started and now it’s as if they’ve known each other forever! It doesn’t matter if you’ve never put on a pair of roller skates – you can borrow skates, helmet and protective gear from us and we’ll teach you how to skate.”
If you are interested in attending the taster session, email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place and you can find out more about junior roller derby by searching Bombinos Junior Roller Derby on Facebook.
