Doddington Farm Shop gears up for major change
Lincolnshire’s award-winning Doddington Farm Shop is to be extended to meet a growing demand for locally sourced food, artisan produce and craft drinks.
The Farm Shop, which is set within the estate of the historic Doddington Hall, near Lincoln, is gearing up for expansion as an extra room is to be built at the rear of the building to make space for an extended food and drinks range.
The new look shop will also see the creation of a wine shop, larger deli area and extended butcher’s department as well as a new space dedicated to the sale of a new range of products including professional cookware.
Since opening in 2007, Doddington Hall’s Farm Shop has steadily grown and has become well known for providing quality seasonal food with little or no food miles; including produce picked from the Hall’s Kitchen Garden and beef from the Lincolnshire Red Cattle reared on the estate.
Farm Shop Manager, Sarah Hall, said: “We are extending the shop by another third so that we have more space to expand our popular range of fresh produce and drink. We’re extending our selection of locally sourced beers and spirits as well as creating a wine shop with a dedicated tasting area. Over the next 18 months we expect to see more craft whiskies and rums on the market and we are already looking for exciting new local products.”
“We’re also introducing a new range of top quality cookware for people who are passionate about cooking. Here customers will find the very best kitchen tools on the market from the best stove top coffee pots and the best milk pans to beautiful cookery books.”
The shop will also have a new wine ambassador, who will be on hand to provide customers with advice and tips. And as well as wine tasting, the shop will also be introducing a series of new wine and beer tasting events; a move made following the success of the Farm Shop’s first ever ‘Food Feastival.’ The event in May brought together local artisan food suppliers and gave visitors the chance to find out more about locally produced food.
The new look Farm Shop is due for completion at the end of September and will remain open as normal with minimal disruption as the work will take place behind the building. Neighbouring stores, that include the Home Store, Farrow & Ball studio, Country Clothing and the Giant Bike Shop, continue to be open daily. Together they offer products ranging from quality cycles to unique homewares, furniture, gifts and accessories.
The Farm Shop at Doddington Hall is open Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm, Fridays 9am to 6pm, Saturdays 9am to 5pm and Sundays 10am to 5pm all year round. Until 30 September, the house is open on Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays between 12 noon and 4.30pm. The gardens are currently open daily (until 9 September) between 11am and 4.30pm for the Sculpture at Doddington exhibition. There is an entry fee for the house and gardens.
