August marks the second birthday of the Junior Imps Club, Lincoln City Football Clubs Junior Membership scheme.

August marks the second birthday of the Junior Imps Club, Lincoln City Football Clubs Junior Membership scheme.

Over the two years Lincoln City’s success has rapidly grown both on and off the pitch and the Junior Imps have been one of the major success stories.

Our membership officially opened on the 1st August 2016 5 days before the first game of the 2016/17 season and 8 days before our first home game of the season, a 6-1 victory against North Ferriby in front of 3,662 fans and a massive 232 in the family stand. The support from the Junior Imps grew and grew and before long the family stand was sold out, game in game out.

The membership gives Junior Imps Members the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets in the stadiums family stand, access to Junior Imps events and a Junior Imps membership card and welcome pack.

As part of the membership one lucky Junior Imp gets randomly selected to be a club VIP for the day, this member sits in the VIP stand and gets to pick and award the Junior Imps Man of The Match to a Lincoln City player of their choice.

We also run activities throughout the season such as Christmas Parties, Away Trips and Junior Takeover days.

As the months went on and the Imps caught the attention of the nation with their record breaking FA cup run and their new Junior Imps supported them all the way. The journey would take the Junior Imps to Championship and Premier League stadiums but started on the 15th October at Sincil Bank with a 0-0 draw against Guiseley in the fourth qualifying round. A win against Guiseley in the replay before a first round win at home to Altringham set the Lincoln Loco on its way. The second round game at home to Oldham saw countless Junior Imps stay up past their bedtime to watch former Premier League team Oldham Athletic visit the Bank, the prize an away trip to Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich in The FA Cup Third Round. The 3-2 win on that foggy Monday evening sealed the prize.

Two matches against Ipswich and a home win against a team that were to be promoted to the Premier League in Brighton sealed a trip to Premier League Burnley on the 18th February. The magic of The FA Cup struck once again when Sean Raggett’s 89th minute winner sent the Imps further than a Non-League club had ever gone; the Quarter Finals. The Emirates Stadium was the next stop for the Imps and the Junior Imps members were given an allocation of 1000 tickets to see Danny Cowley’s side face Arsene Wenger’s.

The day was a memorable one for all the Junior Imps, but was made especially memorable for Jude Jessop, our only member who had attended every Lincoln City match that season in the Family Stand. As a reward for his outstanding commitment and support he became Lincoln City’s mascot for the day, giving him a behind the scenes tour of the Emirates Stadium, an opportunity to meet both teams players and a chance to walk out with his team live on BT Sport.

Focus then returned to the league campaign with Lincoln City top of the league going in to the run in with Tranmere Rovers and Forest Green Rovers hot on their trail. The Support from the Junior Imps was as magnificent as ever, with the Family Stand selling out for every game after the Arsenal Fixture. The Imps would go on to win the league after a tense 2-1 Home Win against Macclesfield in front of a capacity crowd. The Junior Imps would be watching Lincoln City in the football league for the 2017/18 season.

The 2017/18 season saw changes at Sincil Bank with the arrival of the pre match Family Fan Zone, an area where Junior Supporters can come before the game and take part in different activities that are on offer and win a range of Lincoln City FC prizes.

Another first was our very successful Junior Takeover day where Junior Imps members were given the opportunity to apply for a matchday job at the club. Job roles ranged from First Team manager all the way to Poachers Assistant and thesuccessful applicants came in for the day to work with their new mentors.

The highest point of the season was Lincoln City’s trip to Wembley in the Checkatrade Trophy Final where thousands of Junior Imps walked up Wembley Way to watch Lincoln City FC beat Shrewsbury courtesy of a first half goal from Elliot Whitehouse. Who would have thought on that warm summers night at Sincil Bank on the 9th August 2016 that 608 days later the Junior Imps would have had well over 2000 members and would be watching the Imps lift a cup at the world’s most famous stadium?

The Junior Imps has so much to look forward to for the 2018/19 season, we are moving to our own specific family stand, the second Junior Takeover Day, membership perks at local businesses, a Junior Imps Fan Council, more away trips, Christmas parties, matchday activities, birthday card from the team as well as much, much more.
