Lincolnshire’s Bombinos represent the county in the first international Roller Derby tournament

The junior team of the Lincolnshire Bombers is travelling to Denmark to take part in the historic event

On 11-13 August 2017, five teenagers from Lincoln’s Bombinos junior roller derby team will participate in the first international Junior Roller Derby tournament.

The tournament is open to all Roller Derby skaters under 18 years old and will also include a roller disco and a Roller Derby bootcamp where they will learn from some of Europe’s best roller derby athletes.

The Bombinos team was set up around 6 years ago when the adult team, the Bombers, found that children were becoming interested in learning to play roller derby. The team currently sees 15 boys and girls aged 10-17 regularly training on a Saturday morning at Yarborough leisure centre in Lincoln and are coached by 4 skaters from the adult team.

Coach (and Eve L Getcha’s Mum) Violet Impact said “We’re so pleased and proud that some of our Bombinos are going to be taking part in such a historic event in Copenhagen. Roller derby is such an empowering sport for girls and boys and it will great to see the roller derby stars of tomorrowskating alongside and learning from the best. We hope everyone back home in Lincolnshire will be watching the live stream online and will be cheering for Eve L Getcha, Deady Bear, Skye Rocket, Rebell and KurlyWurly.”
