Tywcross Zoo has got a great range of exciting family fun events taking place this half term, all of which are free as part of your admission ticket to the zoo.
Whether you are a dinosaur fan, a science geek, or just like dressing up for Halloween there is something to tickle everyone’s fancy this October.
Wednesday 18th - Friday 20th October
Monday 23rd – Wednesday 25th October
Grab your mini scientists and join us in the Mad Science Lab, where you will be able to get involved with loads of wacky, hands-on science experiments from chemical reactions to bubbling potions.
Run by a professional team of scientists, who are ready to spark the imagination of all young people, Mad Science is a great way to enhance an already fun day out at Twycross Zoo.
Running throughout the day, these drop into sessions – Mayhem Labs and a Fire and Ice Show – will be great for any budding young scientists to get involved with.
Meet a T-Rex and dino babies
Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd October
Dinosaurs are coming back to life over the weekend of the 21st and 22nd October when Tywcross Zoo will be playing host to Rex, an 8-foot-tall and 17-foot-long animatronic T-Rex accompanied by some newly hatched dino babies.
You can join us for this ROARsome experience and get up close and personal with Rex, who is a life-size baby T Rex, and as authentic as they come. He is the first dinosaur of his kind in the UK, with real legs. But there is no need for young ones to be afraid, as Rex might look ferocious, but he is funny and friendly and keen to get to know our visitors.
There will be T-Rex Shows and baby dinos ‘meet and greet’ opportunities taking place at different times throughout the day.
Halloween Spooky Spectacular
Thursday 26th - Tuesday 31st October
Come and enjoy the ghostly goings-on at the zoo! Join in with our ‘trick or treat’ trail, taking you throughout the zoo collecting stickers, stamps and spooky items, or try your hand at pumpkin-carving, or settle down in our special spooky cinema to watch some scary animations, featuring some of your favourite characters from TV and the cinema.
If you’re feeling hungry, there will also be lots of ghostly grub to gobble-up from a witches’ brew and eyeball popcakes, to monster burgers and ghost meringues. There will also be a Halloween witch flying around on site and visitors will event be able to take part in casting spells over her bubbling cauldron.
Karen Clarke, Director of Operations at Twycross Zoo said: “We are really pleased to have so many exciting free events being staged this half-term, which will make a visit to Twycross Zoo even more fun than usual.
“If you can’t decide which one of these exciting events takes your fancy and you want to enjoy all three, by taking out a Zoo membership, not only can you take part in all three activities, but it also means that you will be able to visit Twycross Zoo as many times as you like over the next 12 months!”
Twycross Zoo is open to the public from 10.00 to 18.00. For more information and to book tickets visit www.twycrosszoo.orgor call 0844 474 1777.
